Thrush is a fungal infection that is common in people with HIV — the human immunodeficiency virus. People with HIV are usually placed on oral antibiotics to help their compromised immune systems fight infection.
Thrush can actually be caused by some antibiotics, which kill the bacteria that usually hold the fungus in check.
